While returning from a fall weekend trip to Indiana Dunes State Park with his wife, Jeanne, last fall, Stephen made a morning stop at Jasper-Pulaski Fish & Wildlife Area. From the observation deck overlooking Goose Pasture, his Canon EOS Rebel T5i and 55-250 mm lens caught these sandhill cranes leaving the marshes. A retiree, Stephen has been a subscriber for the last three years, and subscribed years before.

Tom is part of a small group in his area that shoots nightscape photography. Even so, many members of his group had never seen the Milky Way before because of light pollution and atmospheric conditions that are common east of the Mississippi. This photo shows the galaxy above the Harmony Way bridge in New Harmony, shot last Nov. 1, with a Canon 5D Mark II and 14mm Rokinon lens. Tom recently completed the Master Naturalist program and regularly buys Outdoor Indiana at Barnes & Noble.
