The Indiana Department of Natural Resources is committed to ensuring that our guests and staff continue to have safe and memorable outdoor experiences at our state parks, state forests, fish and wildlife areas, nature preserves and state recreation areas in light of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19.) We are following the lead of the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) and many local county health departments as we monitor the virus and its potential impacts on DNR properties.

Atterbury FWA advisories

  • During mid-to-late Spring 2021, Coyote Marsh will be lowered and drained to replace an aging and failing water structure. Until repairs are made and water levels return, that impoundment will be closed to fishing.

Blue Grass FWA advisories

  • All Blue Grass FWA bodies of water will be closed to anyone not signed in to hunt on the following dates: Nov. 7-22 and Nov. 28-Feb. 14. Blue Grass FWA will also be closed to fishing from Nov. 7-22 and Nov. 28-Feb 14. In addition, waterbodies within the waterfowl resting area will be closed to all activities from Nov. 7-Feb. 14.

Crosley FWA advisories

  • Crosley Lake at Crosley Fish & Wildlife Area will be closed for dam renovations beginning April 2019. Work is expected to be completed in fall 2020.
  • The bridge crossing on River Road at the Muscatatuck River is closed for an indefinite period of time; however, you can still access the western side of the property (including the shooting range) by taking Highway 3 north to County Road 25W, keeping left onto County Road 115 South then turning back south on County Road 75W.   • Dogwood Lake Creel Survey: An angler creel survey will be conducted at Dogwood Lake this year to assist with management of the lake's fisheries. DNR will evaluate the fish species anglers are targeting, time spent fishing, catches, and the size and numbers of fish harvested. This survey will also evaluate the status of the test crappie size limit. The survey is scheduled to begin March 1 and run through Oct. 31. A DNR employee will be interviewing anglers at the main boat ramp throughout the season. The clerk will also be counting anglers at some of the property ponds throughout the work shift.   • Beginning March 1, a gate will prevent access to Kingsbury FWA via the Hupp Road entrance. The gate will limit traffic through the property to the industrial park and preserve the property’s quality for wildlife and visitors.

LaSalle FWA advisories

  • Beginning mid-to-late March, tree work will take place on the Black Oak Bayou river levee. When work begins, all recreation along the river levee will be temporarily suspended. This closure will last 1-2 days. All other areas within the rest of Black Oak Bayou and LaSalle Fish & Wildlife Area will remain open during this project.
  • Badal Wetland Conservation Area (WCA) will now be known as LaSalle FWA-East Unit. The renaming will simplify the enforcement of regulations and hunting on the property. Effective beginning April 17, LaSalle FWA-East Unit hunting opportunities will be included in LaSalle FWA's daily draws and will follow all LaSalle FWA property regulations.

  • The Sugar Ridge FWA Area 3 Shooting Range (rifle/handgun) is operating under winter hours until at least July 30, 2021 due to a construction project taking place downrange. Willow Slough FWA advisories

  • Beginning May 1, 2020, all property specific fishing regulations will be lifted on J.C. Murphey Lake at Willow Slough FWA in Newton County. Until further notice, bag and size limits will become the same as other statewide limits for Indiana lakes.
  • Willow Slough FWA will be conducting aerial herbicide applications between Sept. 8 - 18. Some areas will be closed temporarily for applications and reopen 48 hours after treatments are completed. For more information regarding closures, please contact the property office.
