Commissioner's Welcome
As the largest agency in the State of Indiana, the Indiana Department of Correction employs more than 6,400 Hoosiers, supervises almost 10,000 parolees in communities across the state and is responsible for the safety and security of more than 25,000 adults and 450 juveniles inside our correctional facilities.
The IDOC currently operates 18 adult facilities, 5 juvenile facilities and 10 parole districts. Even though the reach is far and wide, each small part of the Department is committed to the main tenets of our mission: to increase public safety and reduce recidivism.
Whether you are a member of the public, a criminal justice professional or a friend or family member of an incarcerated person, our website is a great resource for the most current and comprehensive information about the Department and a gateway to information on the populations we serve. More and more, the IDOC’s website grows as a key source on a variety of information regarding corrections in Indiana, and we will continually strive to improve and expand upon it as time progresses.
To achieve this goal, I have actively encouraged the sharing of thoughts and ideas since becoming Commissioner. If you have innovative solutions and constructive suggestions for the Department, please reach out to us through the Contact IDOC link on our homepage. By working together, we can do more to make Indiana a safe place to live, learn and restore Hoosier families.
