Virtual Genealogy and Local History Fair 
Saturday, October 24, 2020, 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The Indiana State Library is hosting the Genealogy and Local History Fair virtually in 2020!  Registration is free and required.  Please click here to register.  This year's theme is "The Women in Your Family Tree," examining techniques for researching women as well as looking at women's suffrage and other 19th-century social movements.

This even will be held via Zoom.  When you register, you will receive an email confirming your registration.  Links to the Zoom sessions will be sent closer to the event.

This event is eligible for LEUs for Indiana librarians.

Highly acclaimed speakers Gena Philibert-Ortega and Katherine Willson will present. 

One-on-One Family History Consultations Second Saturday of Every Month

Do you need help getting started? Have you hit a brick wall? Need information about what we have and how it can help you with your genealogy research? The Genealogy Collection of the Indiana State Library is offering 30 minute individual consultation sessions with one of our reference librarians on the second Saturday morning of every month.

Email GenMail@library.in.gov to schedule an appointment. All appointment request must be submitted 5 business days before the second Saturday of the month. Please include topics and questions you would like to have addressed. If you have completed any research please bring it with you.

Free orientation tour enable researchers to learn where the genealogical tools they need are located. Learn what resources the Indiana State Library holds for genealogists, and where to find them in the building.

Second Saturday One-on-One DNA Testing Consultations with the Central Indiana DNA Interest Group (CIDIG) at the Indiana State Library

DNA testing has become an important resource for genealogists looking to solve genealogy puzzles by comparing DNA matches.  Genealogists are incorporating DNA Testing along with the traditional genealogical research methods to discover new family members.

Have you considered taking a Genetic DNA test but not sure which test is the best for you?  Do you have questions about your test results?  The Central Indiana DNA Group (CIDIG) staff will be available to assist you with your DNA questions in one-on-one 15-minute consultation sessions on the second Saturday of every month.

To schedule an appointment for a free DNA consultation, please send your request to CIDIG Specialist, Denise Anderson-Decina, at the following e-mail:  CIDNAgroup@gmail.com. All appointment requests must be submitted five (5 ) business days before the second Saturday of the month. Please include in your email the DNA questions and related information that you would like to have addressed. Family History Tours

This is NOT a how-to-research session. Instead, this is your opportunity to have an in-depth tour of the facility's genealogical holdings.

Learn where different family history resources are located on the first and second floors of the Indiana State Library. This is a free orientation tour, geared toward genealogists and family historians. Tours are available by request. Request a tour for as little are two people or a larger group.
