Welcome

A properly run nonprofit organization must focus on accomplishing its mission within a complex regulatory environment. Besides the many legal issues impacting all organizations, whether for-profit or nonprofit, nonprofits typically operate within two additional legal frameworks -- state charity law and federal tax law. The complexity of these frameworks can be difficult to navigate. This site contains resources to help understand and navigate them.

This site is organized to correspond with three primary periods of a nonprofit's lifecycle -- Formation, Operation, and Dissolution. As we continue to develop this site we will add resources, so be sure to check back often.
