Operation food

Since the onset of COVID-19, Indiana’s charitable food distribution network (which is comprised of 12 food banks and around 1,750 pantries and community kitchens) has experienced a 154% increase in visits from Hoosiers needing access to food. With this in mind, the Family & Social Services Administration created “Operation Food” to partner and collaborate with this network, hunger relief organizations like Indy Hunger Network and Feeding Indiana’s Hungry, the Indiana State Health Department and the Department of Homeland Security. Operation Food is a coordinated effort to leverage resources and work together as a state to serve Hoosiers’ hunger needs during COVID-19. Significant emphasis has been given to address vulnerable populations, including elderly and children.
