Visitation
Special Message: IDOC Comprehensive Response to COVID-19
Public Visitation:
To limit the opportunity of introducing the COVID-19 virus to a prison facility, visitations at this facility have been suspended until further notice. This includes Volunteer Staff.
Attorney Visits:
Requests for general in-person legal visits between attorneys and offenders must be made to the facility where the offender is housed. Attorney/offender visit requests will only be scheduled when safe to do so on a facility-by-facility basis and are subject to being postponed or rescheduled. A reliable alternative to an in-person attorney/offender visit is to schedule a confidential phone call. The offender must have the attorney's phone number added to their approved telephone list. All calls are 'collect' unless the offender utilizes prepaid minutes.
Further Updates on Public Visitation and Attorney Visits:
Please return to this site for updates about restrictions for public and volunteer staff visitation, as well as any extension of the ending date for attorney / offender in-person visitation. Once restrictions are lifted the regular ‘Visiting Guidelines’ listed below will again be in effect.
Visiting Guidelines:
Visitors shall be searched by staff using the walk-thru metal detector and hand-held wand. If the visitor does not pass either search successfully, both searches shall be conducted a second time. If the visitor does not pass the second set of searches, then the visitor shall be permitted a non-contact visit, only.
If a visitor does not pass the metal detector and wand search and reports that he/she has a medical condition that may cause the sensors to alarm, the visitor must present medical documentation. If the visitor does not have medical documentation, the visitor shall be permitted a non-contact visit, only.
Permanent or epidermal piercings are not considered to be a medical condition and visitors unable to pass the detectors successfully will be permitted non-contact visits, only.
