Electronic Certificates of Veterinary Inspection
In 2005, the Indiana State Board of Animal Health (BOAH) introduced Hoosier producers and veterinarians to the electronic certificate of veterinary inspection (CVI).
By incorporating digital-age technology into the traditional CVI-writing process, electronic CVIs make the reporting process simpler for veterinarians and producers, and improve animal trace-back efficiencies in a disease situation.
BOAH recommends four different types of electronic CVIs. All electronic CVI options can be signed and submitted electronically, eliminating the need to mail BOAH a paper copy of completed electronic CVIs. The needs of your clients and capabilities of your clinic will help you decide which electronic CVI is the best fit for you.
BOAH: Policy on Official CVI forms
NOTE: USDA form 7001 "United States Interstate and International Certificate of Health Examination for Small Animals" is approved only as follows:
- A hard-copy printed by USDA in a multipage carbon-copy format with a unique certificate number.
- The PDF version online is only accepted if it has been validated by USDA with an official signature and is assigned a unique certificate number.

The AgView mCVI (formerly AgConnect mCVI) can be used on a mobile device or a computer.
Mobile device: The AgView mCVI app is available through the Apple App Store and Google Play for iPads, iPhones, Androids, and tablets. Cost: $3 per certificate
