Public Records Requests

A significant amount of information held by DFI is publically available on our website through online services (HYPERLINK TBD). In addition, NMLS Consumer Access provides significant information concerning various financial services providers doing business in Indiana, including: debt management companies, mortgage lending, money transmitters, and mortgage loan originators.

All requests for public records should be made in compliance with the Indiana Access to Public Records Act (Ind. Code § 5-14-1.5). The Indiana Public Access Counselor has provided a helpful handbook which gives an overview of the applicable law, and includes a sample public records request letter.

All public records requests to DFI should conform to Indiana law and the guidance provided in the above referenced handbook. Electronic requests may be made to: legal@dfi.in.gov, or mailed to: Indiana Department of Financial Institutions, attn.: Legal Department, 30 S. Meridian Street, Ste. 300; Indianapolis, IN 46204.
