COVID-19 Temporary Healthcare Provider Registry

Register for Temporary License
Submit your information to register for a temporary license to provide healthcare services in the State of Indiana. You will either need to create or login to your Access Indiana, single sign-on account. Once logged in, you will select COVID-19 Emergency Registries from the license types. Requirements & Additional Information

The State of Indiana has created a registry of individuals who do not hold a valid license to practice in Indiana but can be mobilized to help fight COVID-19 by issuing temporary permits to practice. Any individual who utilizes the registry may work until the public health emergency as defined by Governor Holcomb through Executive Order is over. Once the emergency is over, their license will expire and all existing application procedures must be followed such as taking the appropriate licensure exam and passing a criminal background check. This registry will be open to:

  • Out-of-state healthcare practitioners;
  • Retired healthcare professionals; and
  • Recent graduates of accredited medical, registerd nursing, pharmacy, physician assistant, and respiratory care programs.

These individuals who are seeking temporary licensure will be required to submit their information to the registry found above in order to temporarily practice in the State of Indiana during the current public health crisis. For specific requirements for each license practitioner group, please see below.

Practitioner Specific Requirements

Out-of-State Practitioners: All healthcare professionals who hold, or have recently held, a valid license to practice in another state may utilize the registry. Their license to practice must either be currently active or have expired within the last five years. Their license to practice must be similar to the practice they will be providing in the State of Indiana and they must attest that their license has not been revoked or suspended. 

Retired Healthcare Professionals: Any healthcare professional who had an active license in a healthcare related field in the past five years which was not revoked or suspended may utilize the registry. Their license to practice must be similar to the practice they will be providing in the State of Indiana and they must attest that their license has not been revoked or suspended.  

Recent Graduates of Registered Nursing, Physician Assistant, or Respiratory Care Programs:  All recent graduates of an accredited program should submit their initial application for full licensure with PLA and provide a copy of their Certificate of Completion of the program. The applicant must have a pending licensure application in order to utilize and be included on the registry. 

Graduate Pharmacists- All recent graduates of an accredited pharmacy program should submit their initial application for full licensure with PLA and provide a copy of their Certificate of Completion of the program. The applicant must have a pending licensure application in order to utilize and be included on the registry. 

Access Indiana & MyLicense Instructions

  1. Go to MyLicense.IN.gov 

  2. If you have an existing Access Indiana account, select 'Login to Personal Licensing with Access Indiana'

  3. If you do not have an existing Access Indiana account, click 'Register for an Access Indiana acount' and then use the Person Search function.

  4. You can enter your Date of Birth and SSN to search for an existing record.

    1. If a record is found, your information will be populated and then click Register.

    2. If no record is found, you can enter your information and click Register.

  5. Click Initial Application on the lefthand menu.

  6. Select COVID-19 Emergency Registries. 

  7. Select the desired Type and Obtained By Method to begin your registration.
