Becoming Qualified Professionals
Becoming a Qualified Professional
In an effort to serve our customers better and assist Federal agencies with the Section 106 process, the DHPA maintains a list of consultants who meet the appropriate Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualification Standards.
Inclusion on this roster does not constitute endorsement by the Division of Historic Preservation and Archaeology or the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
To be considered for the Qualified Professionals Roster, complete a qualification form for one or more of the five professional fields. Once we receive your completed form, we will respond to let you know either that your name will be added to the roster or that we need more information. Updates to the online, public roster are made monthly.

To ask questions about qualifying for the Qualified Professionals Roster, contact the Indiana Division of Historic Preservation and Archaeology at 317-232-1646 or DHPA@dnr.IN.gov.
Qualified Professionals should contact the DHPA for updated contact information, changes in companies, and other pertinent information. Failure to do so may result in removal from the online, public roster until current information is received.
Removal From the List
Consultants will be removed from the Qualified Professionals Roster at their request or, with respect to archaeologists, if the division director files a complaint with the Natural Resources Commission under IC 4-21.5-3-8 to terminate, suspend, or condition the qualification of a person included in the roster, where the person fails to substantially comply with the Guidebook for Indiana Historic Sites and Structures Inventory and Archaeological Sites, as prepared by the Division of Historic Preservation and Archaeology.
A final order for a sanction under this subsection may be dissolved or modified by agreement of the parties or for just cause as determined by the commission. (Natural Resources Commission; 312 IAC 21-3-4; filed Jun 8, 2001, 12:30 p.m.: 24 IR 3019).
If you would like to be removed from the roster or have questions, please contact DHPA at 317-232-1646.
