Overview
Adolescence (ages 10 – 17) and young adulthood (ages 18 – 25) are crucial developmental periods with physical, emotional and intellectual changes. Teens and young adults also experience changes in social roles, relationships and expectations.
The Indiana State Department of Health is working to improve the health of adolescents and young adults by implementing programming, strengthening the capacity of youth serving institutions and eliminating barriers that prohibit teens and young adults from achieving optimal health.
Adolescent and Young Adult Behavioral Health Collaborative Improvement and Innovation Network (CoIIN)
Indiana was selected as one of five states to collaborate and improve depression screening and follow-up for young people. Through participation, Indiana and five other states are working to decrease stigma related to depression screening and increase clinical practices screening for teens and young adults in their states.
- This CoIIN takes place July 2019 – December 2020;
- Minnesota, South Carolina, Vermont, and Wisconsin are also participating;
- Teams will address key drivers of unmet behavioral health needs for teens.
